Sashiko Quilting

Date : 2nd & 4th Monday of Each Month
Time : 10am - 12noon
Place : JC Pioneer Center - Classroom
Instructor : June Aoki, Frances Lee, Reiko Sonday

The Sashiko Class has been in existence since 1995 when Yoko Tamae volunteered to teach it. Tamae Sensei mastered Sashiko stitchery in Japan under the direction of Etsuko Sugiyama, a Sashiko artist. Today, Tamae sensei teaches part-time and is a consultant to the group.

Briefly, Sashiko stitchery uses the "running stitche" to decorate many things like clothing, runners, and purses using Japanese patterns. It is easy to learn and can be incorporated in patchwork and quilting.
Individual instruction is given. So, students are welcome to join us at any time!
